Bugaboo is the number one premium Dutch brand for strollers. Due to Bugaboo’s successful growth in recent years, more office space was needed for the global headquarters. The purchase of the historic van Gendthallen building (an old factory of trains and heavy machinery in Amsterdam) made it possible. DAY was asked to find the best functional layout for an office space for Bugaboo in Gendthallen and come up with ideas of how to put the rest of the building to the best practical use.

DAY presented a strong guiding principle which defined the entire development process: “The van Gendthallen will become a factory of ideas, inspiration and innovation, where quality products and services are made and sold”. The new concept emphasized the unique architectural features of the van Gendthallen building and made sure it was accessible to the general public. The building was meant to attract local, national and international audiences. DAY brought the building to life by suggesting that it could be used for a variety of functions ranging from retail, hospitality and parking to conference halls and programs or social activities.

This new concept was approved, well received and the development of the project is now in progress. The expected day of the project completion is the end of 2015.
